Sports massage has been used for thousands of years, dating back to the Greeks & the Romans. Elite athletes would have a massage before and after competing, and Roman gladiators recognised the benefits of receiving a massage especially when sustaining injuries.

In todays society everyone can benefit through sports massage, whether you're a sports person or someone suffering with tennis elbow or chronic back pain.

Sports massage is a form of deep massage which involves manipulation of the soft tissue. It is designed to assist in correcting minor problems and imbalances within the soft tissue. These can be caused by repetitive every day activity, strenuous physical exercise and trauma.

One of the major effects of receing the sports massage is general relaxation and wellbeing. Another is reduction in anxiety, which is beneficial to those who may be training hard and perhaps preparing for an event or those who may be feeling stressed from every day life situations.

Your first visit will involve talking through specific areas that need to be addressed, everything will be explained and you will be given an information and after care advice sheet. The sports massage will be performed following this initial consultation for the desired time. Follow up treatments may be necessary and this will be discussed with you at the end of the massage.
